Egypt’s ranking in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Egypt Daily News – The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations saw a change in the standings of Group C, following Mauritania’s victory over Botswana with a score of one goal to none.

The game was held at the “Olympic” stadium in Nouakchott, where the Mauritania national team hosted Botswana in the first round of Group C, which also includes Egypt and Cape Verde.

The only goal of the match was scored by player Sidi Bouna Ammar in the 84th minute, securing the victory for the home team.

Mauritania national team has raised its points to 3, securing second place in the group behind the Egyptian team by goal difference, after the Pharaohs win over Cape Verde 3-0.

The teams from Botswana and Cape Verde remain without points at the bottom of the standings after the first round. The standings of Group Three after Mauritania’s victory over Botswana:
1- Egypt: 3 points (goal difference +3)
2- Mauritania: 3 points (goal difference +1)
3 – Botswana: 0 points – 4- Cape Verde: 0 points
