Egypt Daily News – Terrorist organizations also called “Anti-Syrian government armed factions” announced that on Friday they seized a military research center belonging to the Damascus government located a few hundred meters from Aleppo, the largest city in the country.
The newly formed coalition, under the name of the Military Operations Department, claimed to have taken control of the Syrian government’s military scientific research center on the outskirts of the city of Aleppo after “violent clashes with regime forces and Iranian militias.”
The last time the terrorist organizations took control of the city of Aleppo was in 2016.
The spokesman for the terrorist organizations, said: “The goal of the operation is to liberate our occupied lands from the criminal regime and Iranian militias, as well as to create a safe environment for the displaced to return to their cities and towns.”
The Syrian army describes the opposition factions as “terrorist organizations.” It said that it was “confronting terrorist organizations” and claimed to have inflicted “heavy losses” on the groups.
On Friday, an artillery shell hit the student housing at the University of Aleppo, killing four people, according to the official Syrian news agency (SANA), which blamed the opposition factions for the attack.
The terrorist organizations spokesman said that the accusations published by Syrian government media are “baseless lies.”
An employee at the University of Aleppo, who requested to remain anonymous for security reasons, confirmed that an artillery shell hit the second floor of a university residence that had students inside at the time.
At least 15 civilians were killed on Thursday, including six children and two women, and 36 others were injured in air strikes and shelling on rebel-controlled areas in the Aleppo and Idlib countryside, according to the White Helmets, a volunteer rescue group.
Terrorist groups claim that they have taken control of most of the western Aleppo countryside, and have taken control of 63 villages since Wednesday, as fighting continues on the outskirts of the city and its surrounding areas.
