Egypt Daily News – Following US President Trump’s statement regarding a vision of the future of Gaza, by transferring Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, pages on social media published a video that it said was that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi responded to Trump’s proposal.

Although the Egyptian Foreign Ministry refused, in a statement, on Sunday, what it described as any forced displacement of the Palestinians, the video is really due to a statement to President Sisi in 2023 long before President Trump officially assumed the presidency on January 20.

President Sisi speech clearly conveys the message that the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt is a “red line“.

Social Media publishers said that the statement was photographed on January 26 in response to the statements of the US President, which is not the case. On January 25, Trump put a request that he wanted from Egypt and Jordan to get the Palestinians out of the Strip in an attempt to bring peace to the Middle East.

“We are talking about a million and a half million people to cleans the entire area,” Trump told reporters, describing Gaza as a “devastated place”, saying that this step may be “temporary or long -term.”

The day after Trump’s request, Egypt rejected any forced displacement of the Palestinians, and stressed a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on “Egypt’s continued support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on its land and its adherence to its legitimate rights in its land and country.” The Egyptian Parliament and Senate followed with similar statements rejecting the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan.

The statement also stressed that Cairo “rejects any prejudice to these inalienable rights, whether through settlement or annexation of the land or by evacuating that land from its owners through displacement or encouraging the transportation or uprooting of the Palestinians from their land, whether it is temporary or long -term.”

The real truth about the video
However, the circulating statement of President Sisi were not in response on President Trump’s statement but were way earlier in time.

The Egyptian presidential channel in YouTube on showed that President Sisi’s speech was in November 23, 2023, that is, weeks after the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to AFP.

Egypt has denied, on Tuesday, media reports that President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, had a phone conversation on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The SIS said: “A high -ranking official source denied what the media had said that there was a phone call between the Egyptian and American presidents.”
