Egypt Daily News – The Public Security Sector, under the supervision of Major General Mahmoud Abu Amra, Assistant Minister of the Interior, successfully apprehended a gang involved in defrauding citizens through an online platform called “FBC.”

During the period from February 22 until today, 101 citizens filed complaints reporting that they had been defrauded by individuals running an online platform called “FBC.” These individuals allegedly scammed them out of a total of approximately 2 million Egyptian pounds, falsely claiming to invest their money in software development and digital marketing while promising them fake financial returns.

Investigations revealed that the fraudulent operation was led by a gang consisting of three foreign nationals currently residing in the country. These individuals were linked to an international criminal network specializing in online fraud and financial scams. They lured victims by claiming to invest their money through the “FBC” platform.

The gang recruited 11 individuals to establish a company in Cairo to facilitate their criminal activities. They promoted the platform through social media and WhatsApp in exchange for financial commissions. Additionally, they provided mobile phone lines registered with fake identities to activate electronic wallets used to receive and transfer stolen funds. Once they collected enough money, they shut down the platform and closed the company.

After obtaining the necessary legal approvals, authorities arrested 13 suspects and seized various items, including mobile phones, 1,135 SIM cards, a laptop, and cash in multiple currencies amounting to 1.27 million Egyptian pounds.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime as described. Legal procedures were initiated, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

The Ministry of Interior warns citizens against dealing with unknown online investment platforms that claim to offer quick financial gains, as they may be fraudulent schemes that lead to financial losses.
