Egypt Daily News – Newcastle United won the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) for the 2024-25 season after defeating Liverpool, featuring Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, with a score of 2-1 in the final. The match took place on Sunday evening at Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool vs. Newcastle United:
The match goals were scored by Dan Burn and Alexander Isak in the 45th and 53rd minutes, respectively, for Newcastle United, while Federico Chiesa netted Liverpool’s only goal in the 94th minute.

According to Opta, Dan Burn (32 years, 311 days) became the third-oldest English player to score in a League Cup final. Jacob Murphy provided eight assists for Isak this season, the most for a Premier League teammate across all competitions.

Slot, who only took over at Liverpool from legendary boss Jurgen Klopp this season, went deep into his bench to throw everything he had at Howe’s side, making five second-half substitutions.

It was substitutes Harvey Elliot and Chiesa who linked up to pull one back for Liverpool in the 94th minute, but it was too little too late for the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool reached the final after defeating Tottenham 4-1 on aggregate, while Newcastle beat Arsenal 4-0.
