Egypt Daily News – On Wednesday, U.S. warplanes launched a series of intense airstrikes targeting areas in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and the Saada province. The strikes hit the vicinity of the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Postal Authority in northern Sanaa, as part of Washington’s ongoing response to Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping routes.
Reports indicated that the American airstrikes targeted an event hall under construction in a residential neighborhood of the Al-Thawra district in Sanaa, raising concerns about civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) released footage on Wednesday showing fighter jets taking off from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, stationed in the Red Sea. The footage confirmed continued U.S. air operations against Houthi targets in Yemen, as well as strikes on vessels in the Red Sea, in line with Washington’s broader military campaign in the region.
In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Houthis “will lose in every scenario” and urged Iran to immediately stop supporting the group. He warned that continued Iranian backing would lead to further escalation in the region and vowed to “completely eliminate” the Houthis, signaling an ongoing military offensive against them.
The United States began this latest wave of intense strikes last Saturday, targeting Houthi positions in Yemen, resulting in at least 31 casualties in what has been described as the largest operation of its kind since Trump returned to the White House in January.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted key military sites, including air defense systems, radars, ballistic missile launchers, and drones, as part of efforts to curb the Houthis’ ability to threaten maritime security in the Red Sea.
