Egypt Daily News – Jamal Simmons, the former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, has publicly urged President Joe Biden to resign within the next month, allowing Harris to assume the presidency without the need for elections.
In remarks reported by CNN, Simmons praised Biden as an exceptional president and argued that stepping down would be a significant achievement, enabling Harris to take office directly.
Simmons articulated that this transition could strategically benefit Harris by reducing the pressure of leading during the upcoming congressional elections and potentially changing the political landscape regarding Donald Trump.
He shared his thoughts on the social media platform “X,” emphasizing that such a move would facilitate a smoother path for future female candidates in politics.
Currently, as Vice President, Harris is set to oversee the congressional session on January 6, 2025, where the results of the 2024 presidential election will be certified.
This call for Biden’s resignation and the subsequent promotion of Harris as president comes following Trump’s recent electoral success in Arizona and other battleground states, where he garnered a total of 312 electoral votes versus Harris’s 226.
