Egypt Daily News – The United States announced today, Wednesday, that it is granting Egypt military aid worth $1.3 billion.

According to the “Reuters” news agency, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated that President Joe Biden’s administration informed the U.S. Congress today, Wednesday, about providing military aid to Egypt.

This announcement comes at a time when Washington is heavily relying on Cairo, the United States’ long-standing ally, to mediate the currently unsuccessful talks between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire agreement to end the war in Gaza.

The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said, “This decision is important for enhancing regional peace and Egypt’s specific and ongoing contributions to the national security priorities of the United States, particularly in completing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, returning hostages to their homes, increasing humanitarian aid for Palestinians, and helping to achieve a lasting end to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.”
