Egypt Daily News – On Monday, Egypt condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s seizure of the buffer zone with Syria and its adjacent command sites, considering it an “occupation of Syrian territory.”
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the seizure is a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty, and “a clear violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.”
It added: “Egypt emphasizes that Israeli practices violate international law and violate the unity and integrity of Syrian territory, and are an exploitation of the state of liquidity and vacuum in Syria to occupy more Syrian territory to impose a new fait accompli on the ground in violation of international law.”
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued: “Egypt calls on the Security Council and international powers to assume their responsibility and take a firm stance on the Israeli attacks on Syria, in a way that guarantees its sovereignty over its entire territory.”
