Egypt Daily News – On Thursday, Egypt expressed its appreciation for the statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday during his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin regarding not demanding the residents of the Gaza Strip to leave.

In an official statement published on the Foreign Ministry’s official Facebook page, Egypt stated that “this stance reflects an understanding of the importance of avoiding further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the need to work toward fair and sustainable solutions to the Palestinian issue.”

The statement emphasized “the importance of building on this positive approach to advance efforts for peace in the Middle East through adopting a comprehensive path based on a clear vision that ensures stability and security for all parties.”

It added that Egypt “views President Trump’s initiative to end international conflicts and achieve peace, including in the Middle East, as a potential practical framework to build upon and work jointly to realize, while taking into account the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, primarily their right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Egypt also reaffirmed its “firm commitment to supporting all serious initiatives aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region” and called on “all international and regional parties to intensify efforts to advance the peace process, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the peoples of the region.”

The Irish Prime Minister reiterated his call for increasing humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian enclave and expressed his support for a two-state solution. However, he did not directly address Trump’s previous remarks about removing Palestinians from Gaza.

In response to a question on the issue, Trump stated, “No one is expelling the Palestinians from Gaza.”

It is worth noting that Trump had previously suggested the possibility of Gaza’s residents emigrating voluntarily and proposed transforming the enclave into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

A few days ago, Arab leaders convened and agreed on an Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza following a devastating war with Israel that resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.
