Egypt vs Mauritania, Egypt won 1-0

Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian national football team has successfully qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, set to take place in Morocco.

This achievement was secured with a dramatic late goal from Ibrahim Adel in the 86th minute during their fourth-round qualifying match against Mauritania. The Pharaohs finished the group stage with a perfect score of 12 points, leading Group C, marking their 27th qualification for the prestigious tournament.

Throughout the match, Mauritania started strongly, leveraging the advantage of their home crowd, while Egypt showcased their experience to manage the game’s intensity.

The first half was marked by a lack of attacking threats from both teams, with Egypt struggling to create clear opportunities against the physicality of the Mauritanian players. This resulted in multiple stoppages for injuries to Egyptian players Mohamed El-Shenawy and Rami Rabia.

The second half saw similar trends, with Mauritania initially pressing harder. However, El-Shenawy made a critical save in the 55th minute, preventing what seemed like a certain goal. Egypt had limited chances, with only one notable opportunity coming from Omar Marmoush.

In a thrilling conclusion, Ibrahim Adel’s stunning strike from midfield broke the deadlock and secured the victory for Egypt, allowing them to celebrate their qualification for AFCON 2025.
