Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, confirmed today, Saturday, Egypt’s complete rejection of Israel’s incursion into the buffer zone with Syria. This came during his participation in the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Liaison Committee on Syria, which was held in the city of Aqaba, Jordan.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Ati reviewed the Egyptian position calling for the necessity of standing by the Syrian people in this delicate circumstance, preserving the unity and integrity of the Syrian territories and respecting its sovereignty, and supporting state institutions to enhance their capabilities to carry out their roles in serving the Syrian people.
He pointed out the importance of launching a comprehensive political process with exclusive Syrian ownership that includes all components of society, its spectrums, and its political and social forces, to achieve national reconciliation and ensure the success of the transitional process.
Minister Abdel-Aty also affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of Israel’s incursion into the buffer zone with Syria, and condemned Israel’s occupation of Syrian territory and the violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, which represents a violation of international law. He also condemned the systematic Israeli raids that targeted the Syrian army’s infrastructure and military capabilities.
