Egypt Daily News – The Palestinian resistance broadcast a series of messages during the handover ceremony of Israeli prisoners’ bodies in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, on Thursday morning. Among these messages was the display of two bombs on the platform where the coffins were placed.
Two bombs were displayed with the inscription in English: “Killed by U.S. bombs.” Trevor Ball, a former U.S. Army ordnance expert, stated that the bombs shown by the resistance were unexploded GBU-39 bombs, manufactured in the United States.
In his statement to Sanad News Verification Agency of Al Jazeera Network, Ball confirmed that this type of bomb is exclusively produced in the United States.
His statements align with previous investigations published by U.S. media outlets, including The New York Times and CNN, which revealed that the Israeli military used these bombs during an airstrike that resulted in the deaths of dozens in Rafah, known as the “Tent Massacre” in May 2024.
A previous investigation by Sanad also uncovered that Israel used the same weapon to target Al-Tabiāin School Mosque, which was sheltering hundreds of displaced people in August 2024. The attack led to the deaths of 100 people and injured dozens, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense.
Earlier this month, the United States approved the resupply of Israel with a new shipment of GBU-39 bombs as part of a $6.75 billion deal. Details of the agreement were published on the website of the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the official entity responsible for U.S. arms sales.
The GBU-39 is considered one of the most dangerous smart bombs, as it is a small-diameter guided munition weighing 110 kilograms. It is capable of striking its targets with extreme precision, with a margin of error not exceeding one meter, even in the most challenging weather conditions, according to specifications listed on the U.S. Air Force website.
