IMF announces its readiness to amend Egypt’s financing program

Egypt Daily News – Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, announced readiness to amend the financing program with Egypt.

She said in response to questions from “Youm7” during a press conference held in the American capital, Washington, on Thursday, that the IMF supports the Egyptian economy through the financing program.

She explained that the variables and their impact on the Egyptian economy will be evaluated, saying, “We are ready to adjust and fine-tune the program in the interest of the Egyptians.”

She pointed out that she will visit Egypt in 10 days to review economic indicators and the nature of the economic situation in light of the regional and global changes that have affected the Egyptian economy.

Meanwhile, Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, revealed that the next review of the financing program with Egypt will begin next month, explaining that an IMF mission will visit Egypt next month to discuss the details of the economic files related to the Egyptian economic reform program.
