Egypt and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed the importance of fully implementing the second phase of the Gaza agreement and ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire, as regional diplomatic efforts intensify to prevent a renewed escalation in the Palestinian territory.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Badr Abdel Aaty stressed on Monday the need to maintain the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to fulfill the commitments of the second phase of the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. His remarks came during a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, as part of ongoing coordination and consultation between Cairo and Riyadh, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

During the call, Abdel Aaty emphasized Egypt’s appreciation for the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties between the two countries, noting the growing momentum in bilateral relations across various levels. He underlined the importance of building on this momentum in the coming period, particularly through completing preparations for the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. The planned meeting, he said, reflects the shared political will to advance the strategic partnership between the two countries in a manner that serves Arab interests and strengthens regional stability.

The two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in Gaza, with Abdel Aaty highlighting the necessity of deploying a temporary international stabilization force. Such a force, he said, would help monitor the ceasefire, protect civilians, and enable Palestinian forces to assume law enforcement responsibilities within the Gaza Strip. He also stressed the need to ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid and to create conditions conducive to early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The conversation also addressed the situation in Sudan, where both ministers emphasized the importance of continued coordination within the framework of the quadrilateral mechanism aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire. Abdel Aaty underscored the urgency of establishing safe havens and secure humanitarian corridors to guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of aid to those in need.

Reiterating Egypt’s long-standing position, Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Cairo’s full support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, as well as the preservation of its national institutions. The exchange reflected a shared commitment by Egypt and Saudi Arabia to play an active role in addressing regional crises through coordinated diplomatic efforts and collective action.
