Egypt Daily News – A U.S. official in President Donald Trump’s administration stated that the U.S. and Iran have made very good progress in both direct and indirect discussions and have agreed to meet again next week, according to Reuters.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that technical discussions at the expert level will begin next Wednesday in Oman, and a new round of talks will start in Oman next Saturday to discuss the results of the experts’ work.
After the talks concluded on Saturday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States are “making progress” following a positive meeting.
Araghchi said in an interview with Iranian state television: “It was a good meeting, and I can say that the negotiations are making progress this time. We were able to reach a better understanding of a series of principles and goals,” according to AFP.
He added that the negotiations with Washington in Rome were constructive and lasted for four hours, explaining that technical negotiations through specialized teams are scheduled to take place in Oman to lay down the general framework for an agreement.
The negotiations between Iran and the United States continue in an effort to resolve their decades-long dispute over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military action if diplomatic efforts fail.
