Israel strikes Yemen's infrastructure

Egypt Daily News – Media outlets affiliated with the Houthis reported 9 dead and 3 wounded as a result of Israeli raids that targeted energy infrastructure in the capital, Sana’a, and ports in the coastal city of Hodeidah. They came in response to a bombardment with two ballistic missiles that the Houthis said targeted Tel Aviv.

Houthi media sources reported that huge explosions resulted from the raids that targeted the central “Haziz” and “Dhahban” power stations south and north of Sanaa.

It added that the ports of Salif and Hodeidah were also subjected to eight raids, while two raids targeted the Ras Issa oil terminal. The sources indicated that the Civil Defense extinguished the fires at the Haziz power station.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed the attack, which he said targeted Houthi military sites through precise strikes, in addition to ports and energy infrastructure in Sanaa, which the Houthis exploited to support their military operations against Israel, he said.

He added that over the past 14 months, the Houthis have carried out hundreds of missile and drone attacks against Israel, the most recent of which was last night, stressing that Israel will not hesitate to defend itself and its citizens against Houthi attacks.

Israeli Channel 13 quoted a military source as saying, “The goal of the Israeli attack on Yemen is to destroy three main ports that the Houthis use in their attacks on ships in the Red Sea.”

The Israeli army, in turn, announced that 14 of its warplanes attacked with dozens of bombs 5 targets in Yemen, in the third attack of its kind since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip more than 14 months ago. He added, “In the ports, tugs that bring ships were attacked, and the ability to bring in goods was paralyzed.”

Intercepted missile
Before dawn on Thursday, the Israeli army announced that its defenses intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace, but Yedioth Ahronoth later reported that the interceptor missile fell by mistake.

It added that the fall of the intercepted missile by the Iron Dome – caused major damage to the school of the Ramat Gan settlement near Tel Aviv, in addition to the collapse of the central building. The mayor said, “The damaged school will be demolished and rebuilt.”

In turn, the Houthis announced “the implementation of a military operation that successfully targeted, with two hypersonic ballistic missiles, two sensitive military sites in occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv) in conjunction with the aggression against Yemen.”

“We will continue to hit hard.”
Commenting on these developments, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that Israel will continue to strike hard and will not allow the situation from which missiles are being fired at Israel to continue. He said that any hand raised against Israel will be cut off, as he put it.

The Israeli Defense Minister said that he approved the plan to attack dozens of strategic facilities belonging to the Houthis in Yemen. He added that he would not accept that Israel be subjected to missile attacks or damage to the navigation line in the Red Sea.

The Israeli army had announced earlier, prior to the strikes it launched in Yemen, that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace. This is the fifth Yemeni missile targeting Israel in less than two weeks, in addition to 5 marches.
