Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met with Japanese Member of Parliament Tomoko Abe on Sunday. During the meeting, Minister Abdel-Aty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the distinguished Egyptian-Japanese relations and praised the projects implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with various Egyptian entities.
He also highlighted the success of the Egyptian-Japanese school projects across the country and the Egyptian-Japanese University for Science and Technology, in addition to Japan’s valued support for the Grand Egyptian Museum project.
Minister Abdel-Aty also discussed Egypt’s efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized the Arab plan for the reconstruction of the region. He expressed Egypt’s hope for Japan’s participation in the Gaza Reconstruction Conference, which is scheduled to be hosted in Cairo, including the involvement of various Japanese entities related to reconstruction.
Furthermore, Minister Abdel-Aty expressed Egypt’s gratitude to Japan for accepting several Palestinian patients from Gaza who had been receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
In turn, MP Tomoko Abe praised the strong relations between Egypt and Japan and the bonds of friendship between the two countries. She also delivered a letter from Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya to Minister Abdel-Aty, in which the Japanese minister thanked Egypt for its role in reaching the Gaza ceasefire agreement and emphasized the importance of fully implementing its stages. He also commended the Egyptian-Japanese cooperation in receiving injured Palestinians from Gaza.
The Japanese foreign minister also extended an invitation to Minister Abdel-Aty to visit Japan in the near future for the next round of the Egyptian-Japanese strategic dialogue.
