Egypt Daily News – Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, said that the bill that Electricity must pay for petroleum amounts to 16 million pounds, and the ministry pays 5 million pounds.

He discussed the financial obligations related to electricity and petroleum during a recent press conference at the Council of Ministers and noted that the total bill for electricity that must be paid for petroleum stands at 16 million pounds, with the ministry currently covering 5 million pounds of that total.

Madbouly mentioned that, despite recent increases in electricity prices, a significant gap of 6 billion pounds will still be borne by the state. He acknowledged the challenges this creates, emphasizing the government’s awareness of the burdens faced by Egyptian citizens due to rising costs.

The Prime Minister reassured the public that the government intends to proceed cautiously with these electricity price increases, keeping in mind the social impact. He also remarked that as the plan unfolds over the next four years, certain vulnerable groups will continue to receive support to mitigate the effects of these price hikes.
