Mass Demonstration in London

Tens of thousands of protesters marched through central London on Saturday in a large-scale demonstration organized by right-wing activist Tommy Robinson under the slogan “Unite the Kingdom.” The rally, which drew supporters from across the country, focused on opposition to illegal immigration and criticism of the UK government’s immigration policies.

Participants gathered in Russell Square in the morning before marching toward Whitehall, the seat of the UK government. Many waved the national flag of England featuring the red cross of St. George — alongside the Union Jack. Chants and banners targeted Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accusing his government of failing to control the country’s borders and curbing free speech.

Robinson, a controversial figure known for his anti-Islam and anti-immigration rhetoric, described the event as “a celebration of free speech.” However, critics, including civil rights groups and political opponents, condemned the rally as “a celebration of hate and misinformation.”

One notable feature of the demonstration was the tribute to American conservative political commentator and activist Charlie Kirk, who was reportedly killed on September 10. Organizers claimed that many protesters chanted Kirk’s name and held placards bearing his image. Footage from the event showed groups of demonstrators honoring his memory, though details of the incident surrounding his reported death remain unconfirmed by major international media outlets.

The Metropolitan Police deployed over 1,000 officers across central London to maintain order. As of Saturday afternoon, the event had proceeded peacefully with no reported incidents.

The demonstration highlights the growing tensions within British society over immigration, nationalism, and free speech issues that continue to polarize public opinion and fuel political movements across the UK and beyond.
