Egypt Daily News – Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population and Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, emphasized the importance of the “Africa Health” medical conference and exhibition, stating that it aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to support various sectors of the state and to promote local industry and manufacturing in Egypt.
In a special interview with Extra News, Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that the ventilators showcased at the exhibition are fully manufactured locally, along with ultrasound machines. He also noted initial steps toward local production of MRI and CT scan equipment, as well as surgical consumables, describing Egypt’s industrial capabilities in this field as the strongest on the continent.
He pointed out that, under President El-Sisi’s guidance over the past eight years, Egypt has developed a massive data and digital infrastructure, containing detailed information on Egyptian citizens, including medical data. This infrastructure supports advancements in early and accurate diagnosis, the development of new types of medication using artificial intelligence, and telemedicine. These technologies, supported by initiatives like “100 Million Healthy Lives” and other presidential health campaigns, provide valuable data for decision-makers.
Minister of Health Abdel Ghaffar also stressed that Egypt is the first and only country in Africa that produces 91% of its pharmaceutical needs locally.
