Minister of Labor: Today is an official holiday for workers in the private sector on the occasion of the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution

Egypt Daily News – Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gibran confirmed that today, Thursday, July 25, is an official paid holiday for workers in the private sector, on the occasion of the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, instead of the day before yesterday, Tuesday, July 23.

The Minister explained that the employer has the right to employ the worker on this day, if the working conditions require it, and in this case the worker is entitled, in addition to his wage for this day, double this wage.

He explained that according to Article 52 of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003, the workers are entitled to The private sector has leave with full pay for holidays and official occasions, which are determined by a decision of the minister.

The Ministry of Labor issued the circular – at the beginning of this week – which bears No. 19 of 2024 in this regard, and accordingly the heads of the central departments in the Ministry’s General Office and the labor directorates in the governorates – each within the limits of their jurisdiction – are committed to working to publish the provisions of this book on the websites. Work, production of work in accordance with it, and attention to putting its provisions into practice.

This decision comes from the Ministry of Labor, to ensure the unification of official vacation dates for all employees in the various sectors whenever possible, in order to achieve the social and national goal of official vacations on occasions and holidays, within the framework of Prime Minister’s Decision No. 2239 of 2024, which includes, that Today, Thursday, is an official paid holiday for workers in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector companies.
