Egypt Daily News – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad announced that it is closely following the case of four Egyptian students detained in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan since April 28.

The Egyptian Embassy in Kazakhstan, which is responsible for non-resident diplomatic representation in Kyrgyzstan, contacted the Kyrgyz authorities as soon as it became aware of the incident to check on the students’ well-being and to ensure they are receiving all their legal rights in accordance with Kyrgyz law. From the outset, the embassy has also been in regular communication with the families of the detained students to keep them informed of any developments.

The Egyptian Embassy sent an official memorandum to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting the latest updates on the situation, ongoing monitoring of the trial in light of the investigations, and a commitment to keeping the students’ families informed of any information received from Kyrgyz authorities. It also requested that the embassy be allowed to maintain phone contact with the students.

Additionally, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, instructed the Egyptian ambassador in Kazakhstan to immediately travel to the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, to attend the students’ first court session—once a date is set—to ensure they receive all consular services provided by the ministry.
