Explosions and air defense interceptions were reported across several Middle Eastern capitals late Sunday, as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced a broad wave of retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and US military facilities throughout the region.

Loud blasts were heard over Manama, the capital of Bahrain, while separate reports indicated explosions in the skies above Doha caused by missile interception activity.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched a coordinated offensive against Israeli and American targets, marking a significant escalation following the earlier US-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.

IRGC claims wide targeting campaign

In a series of statements carried by Iranian media, the IRGC said its operation targeted:

  • the Israeli military headquarters
  • the defense industrial complex in Tel Aviv
  • 27 US military bases across the region

The Guard described the campaign as the start of a broader response to what Tehran has characterized as aggression against Iran’s leadership and territory.

Iranian outlets also reported the activation of air defenses in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, indicating heightened alert across the country.

Israeli defenses intercept incoming fire

The Israeli military confirmed that missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israel and said air defense systems were actively working to intercept the threats.

Separately, Israel’s Home Front Command reported sirens sounding in the Wadi Araba area after a suspected drone infiltration was detected.

Explosions reported in Dubai

Reuters reported hearing explosions in Dubai, though officials have not yet provided full details on the cause or any damage.

The rapidly developing situation follows earlier incidents at major Gulf airports and comes amid growing fears that the confrontation between Iran, Israel and the United States is widening into a multi-front regional conflict.

Regional militaries remain on high alert as governments monitor for further missile launches, drone activity and potential follow-on strikes in the coming hours.
