Egypt Daily News – Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, issued a decision to raise the state of readiness and immediate follow-up in the Red Sea reserves to follow up on the incident of a deep-water shark attack outside the swimming area in the northern Marsa Alam region, with the formation of an urgent committee in coordination and cooperation with the Red Sea Governorate and the concerned authorities to determine the causes of the incident.
The Ministry of Environment had received a report that two foreigners had been attacked by a shark in the northern area of Marsa Alam, which resulted in the injury of one of them and the death of the other. They were admitted to Porto Ghalib Hospital.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad Ali stressed that the incident is being dealt with within the framework of urgent measures taken by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the Red Sea Governorate, as the area will be closed and swimming will be prohibited in the sea for a period of two days, starting tomorrow, Monday, especially in light of the presence of strict instructions previously published prohibiting swimming from above.
