Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chief Executive Officer of Apache Corporation, APA Corp., Mr. John Christmann.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi; APA Corp. President, Mr. Stephen Riney; and the American Company’s Senior Vice President of International Assets, Mr. Greg McDaniel.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the President commenced the meeting by welcoming the Apache Corporation delegation, led by Mr. Christmann, on the sidelines of APA Corp.’s participation in the EGYPES 2026 conference and exhibition.
President El-Sisi valued the company’s operations and activities in Egypt and the longstanding, historical relations they share. The President underscored the vital importance of the sustained strategic partnership between the Egyptian petroleum sector and APA Corp., notably in light of the company’s ambitious expansion plans in search, exploration, and oil and gas production, alongside its efforts to enhance the efficiency of existing fields in the Western Desert regions. The President affirmed the Egyptian State’s commitment to eliminating any challenges facing the company’s operations in Egypt and ensuring the optimal utilization of available investment opportunities.
The meeting reviewed APA Corp.’s operations in Egypt and its strategic plans to expand and boost the size and scope its business volume in Egypt. This progress underscores the continued fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the American corporation in the fields of search, exploration, and oil and gas production, aimed at leveraging Egypt’s energy sector resources.
Apache’s CEO, Mr. Christmann, expressed the company’s pride in its longstanding partnership with the Egyptian petroleum sector, noting that Apache has been a leading oil and gas producer in Egypt for nearly three decades. He highlighted that the company’s total investments over the past five years, since 2021, have reached approximately $5 billion within its operational areas in the Western Desert. Mr. Christmann noted the commencement of new investment injections into adjacent concession areas. These efforts are designed to maximize the utility of existing infrastructure as part of Apache’s ongoing investment expansion.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Badawi, affirmed during the meeting that APA Corp. is the largest American investor in Egypt, lauding the company’s efforts to expand its exploration activities in both oil and gas on a wide scale despite the challenges facing the global economy at present. The Minister also emphasized that the increase in production by Khalda Company of natural gas and crude oil, under Egypt’s attractive investment climate, represents an outstanding success story, opening up new prospects for exploring greater gas and petroleum resources and potential in the Western Desert regions.
President El-Sisi expressed his aspiration for the company to continue its growth and expansion in Egypt by entering new concession areas and implementing its future plans, in light of the numerous opportunities available to achieve new discoveries. The President stressed the Egyptian State’s commitment to settling all dues owed to foreign partners in the petroleum and gas sectors within the coming few months.
