Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang, President of the State Council of China, in Cairo on Thursday in a high-level meeting attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and senior officials from both nations.
The visit underscored the deep-rooted strategic partnership between Egypt and China, as the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple fields. The meeting comes amid preparations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, Premier Li Qiang conveyed warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing President El-Sisi as a “dear friend of China” who is always warmly welcomed in Beijing. Li expressed China’s deep appreciation for its close ties with Egypt, which he said are based on mutual respect, shared interests, and a long history of strategic collaboration.
President El-Sisi, in turn, emphasized Egypt’s keenness to deepen its partnership with China, especially in sectors of mutual interest such as new and renewable energy, electric vehicle manufacturing, and industrial development. He also welcomed Chinese investment in Egypt’s developmental projects, highlighting the vital role played by Chinese companies in advancing infrastructure and energy initiatives across the country.
The Egyptian President noted the state’s desire to attract further Chinese investment, particularly in green energy and electric mobility, as well as efforts to boost Chinese tourism to Egypt. He also expressed interest in continuing coordination with China on debt-swap arrangements and ensuring the effective implementation of related agreements.
The leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international developments. Both sides emphasized the need to maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and to resume diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts through peaceful means. Additionally, they called for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, and the pursuit of a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Premier Li Qiang praised Egypt’s pivotal role as a pillar of stability in the Middle East, citing Cairo’s constructive influence on regional peace and security.
The visit by the Chinese Premier not only highlights the growing diplomatic synergy between the two countries but also signals a renewed momentum for economic collaboration and shared geopolitical interests in a rapidly changing global landscape.
