Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed on Tuesday that “Egypt always seeks to present visions to achieve security and peace in the region as a key player in the Palestinian cause.”
During the 41st symposium held by the Egyptian Armed Forces to commemorate Martyrs’ and Veterans’ Day under the title “A Noble People,” President El-Sisi stated that “Egypt’s position remains firm and unwavering: there is no solution to the Palestinian issue except through the establishment of a Palestinian state.” He reiterated Egypt’s rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land under any pretext.
The Egyptian president extended “greetings to the resilient Palestinian people on their land,” emphasizing that “Egypt will provide every possible support to help them in their battle for survival and destiny.”
In their final statement at the emergency Arab summit held in Cairo last week, Arab leaders reaffirmed their absolute rejection of any displacement of the Palestinian people, whether from their land or within it.
The final statement of the emergency Arab summit emphasized “the clear Arab stance, which has been repeatedly reaffirmed, including in the Bahrain Declaration issued on May 16, 2024, rejecting in absolute terms any form of displacement of the Palestinian people from their land or within it, under any pretext, circumstance, justification, or claim.” The statement condemned such actions as a grave violation of international law, a crime against humanity, and an act of ethnic cleansing.
The final statement of the emergency Arab summit also expressed its “condemnation of starvation policies and scorched-earth tactics aimed at forcing the Palestinian people to leave their land.” It emphasized the necessity for Israel, as the occupying power, to comply with relevant international legitimacy resolutions, which reject any attempts to alter the demographic composition of Palestinian territories.
Cairo hosted the emergency Arab summit to discuss the situation and developments in the Gaza Strip, as the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel ended last Sunday without an agreement on its extension or the start of a second phase.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas came into effect on January 19, 2025, following a devastating Israeli military campaign on the Gaza Strip that lasted more than 15 months. The war resulted in over 170,000 Palestinians being killed, injured, or reported missing. The offensive was launched in response to Hamas’s “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack on October 7, 2023.
U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier called for the relocation of a large number of Palestinians to Jordan, Egypt, and “other Arab countries,” a proposal that sparked widespread rejection. Many reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to remain on their land and resist displacement.
Cairo and Amman have repeatedly expressed their opposition to any attempts to forcibly displace residents of the Gaza Strip and resettle them in Egypt, Jordan, or any other country. Both countries have also emphasized the necessity of implementing a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, ensuring the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated his country’s call for the immediate resumption of negotiations on establishing a Palestinian state. He reaffirmed President Vladimir Putin’s position, which advocates resolving the Middle East crisis based on the “two-state solution” framework as endorsed by the UN Security Council.
