Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed President Mohamed Idriss Deby of Chad in New El Alamein, marking the occasion with an official reception ceremony that included the playing of national anthems.
The two leaders engaged in a discussion session, during which President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to nurturing the deep historical ties between the two nations.
He conveyed Egypt’s intent to offer comprehensive support to Chad, particularly in areas such as capacity building through the sharing of Egyptian expertise in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and livestock.
The cooperation also extends to security and counter-terrorism efforts, highlighting Egypt’s focus on ensuring Chad’s stability.
President Deby reciprocated by expressing appreciation for the longstanding and fruitful relations between Chad and Egypt. He underscored Chad’s desire to enhance cooperation across multiple fields and acknowledged the significant support Egypt has extended to Chad over the years.
President Deby expressed optimism about achieving a transformative leap in bilateral collaboration, especially in educational, cultural, and infrastructure development, while also recognizing the contributions of Egyptian institutions and companies in Chad, including the Al-Azhar mission.
The two presidents agreed to promptly activate the joint committee tasked with implementing previously established cooperation agreements, aiming to accelerate joint projects that serve the interests of both nations.
During their discussions, they addressed key African issues, notably the situation in Sudan, security concerns in the Sahel region, and the promotion of coordination within the Sahel-Saharan Community.
They aligned on the importance of supporting ceasefire efforts in Sudan to safeguard the welfare of Sudanese civilians enduring the consequences of ongoing conflict and a deepening humanitarian crisis.
Furthermore, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting stability in Libya and enhancing security mechanisms in the Sahel to combat ongoing terrorist threats.
