Egypt Daily News – Prime Minister of Egypt Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, has announced ambitious plans to localize the automobile industry in the country, aiming to produce six new vehicle models by 2027. Among these upcoming models, some will be electric cars, with production intended to satisfy domestic demand and allow for exports.
During a press conference addressing challenges within pre-university education, Madbouly highlighted the significant potential of the mobile phone industry in Egypt. The country currently requires approximately 20 million devices annually, but local manufacturers are producing over 11 million. The government projects that targeted initiatives could increase this output to 17 million devices.
Madbouly expressed gratitude for the presence of four major global manufacturers that have established factories in Egypt, and he emphasized the intention to encourage these companies to boost their production and focus on increasing exports.
Furthermore, he stated Egypt’s goal to manufacture 100 million mobile devices each year, with 25% allocated for local consumption and 75% aimed at international markets. The government plans to implement incentives to support this sector’s growth and enhance its competitiveness.
