Rafah Crossing will open today

Egypt Daily News – Palestinian sources said today that “the crossing administration will be under the supervision of the European security mission, along with Palestinians from Gaza, who are not linked to enthusiasm, and they are likely to be affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, but not under the direct official supervision of them.”

The commission added that the Palestinians who will supervise the operation of the crossing obtained Israeli approval, noting that “as of today, the elements of the military wing of Hamas who were injured during the war will be allowed to receive medical treatment abroad, according to the agreement.”

50 injured Hamas fighters and 50 wounded civilians, along with the people escorting them, Hamas officials said, adding that a further 100 people most likely students would be allowed through on humanitarian grounds.

People will only be allowed to travel in one direction, from Gaza to Egypt, for the time being, officials have said.

The Israeli radio said that “these elements will be allowed to return to the Gaza Strip after completing their treatment and recovery,” noting that “opening the crossing today reduces the ability of Israel to pressure Hamas regarding the next batch of the release of the prisoners, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow according to the conditions Israeli.

EUBAM Rafah redeploys to Rafah Crossing Point

Today 31 January 2025,  at the request of Israel and the Palestinians and with the agreement of Egypt, EUBAM Rafah redeployed at the Rafah Crossing Point in Gaza.

EUBAM Rafah has deployed a specialised team to the Rafah Crossing Point to allow Palestinian personnel to reopen the RCP. This will allow for the transfer of individuals out of Gaza, including some who require medical treatment. EUBAM Rafah personnel is monitoring the transfers.

Under the terms agreed with the parties, the period of deployment of the EUBAM Rafah specialised team at the RCP will last until the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. During this period it is expected that at least several hundred persons will leave Gaza.
