Egypt Daily News – Grigory Karasin, a member of the Russian delegation, stated that negotiations with the American side in Riyadh are proceeding actively, noting that both sides are discussing “the most serious issues.”

Karasin said: “The negotiations are in full swing.”

When asked whether there was any understanding between the two parties, Karasin responded: “Well, how could there not be understanding when we’ve been sitting for three hours discussing the most serious problems? So, let’s continue these talks.”

A well-informed source told Sputnik that participants in the negotiations between Russia and the U.S. in Riyadh took a lunch break.

Earlier today, a Sputnik correspondent reported that the Russian delegation arrived at the negotiation venue with a group of American experts in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s state security personnel requested journalists and other individuals to leave the premises of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where entry into the building itself was strictly prohibited.

The talks are expected to focus primarily on the details of a potential revival of the initiative concerning the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, which was discussed during the recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

During their phone conversation on March 18, Putin and Trump discussed the situation in Ukraine, conditions for de-escalation, and other international issues.

At the same time, the Kremlin has not ruled out the possibility that, in addition to the Black Sea initiative, other aspects related to the Ukrainian settlement might also be discussed in the Riyadh negotiations.
