Egypt Daily News – Businessman Naguib Sawiris called for the removal of camels, horses, and other animals from the vicinity of the Giza Pyramids and their relocation to the designated riding area, as outlined in the area’s development plan. This, he said, is crucial for preserving one of the world’s most important tourist landmarks and ensuring a high-quality tourist experience for visitors from around the globe.
In a post on his “X” account, Sawiris pointed out that the waste left by horses and camels, along with the disruption to the tourist bus routes, causes recurring issues that harm the appearance of the site. He emphasized that such conditions leave a negative impression on tourists, making their visit a “very bad experience.”

He stressed that the solution lies in enforcing the relocation of animal owners to the designated riding area as part of the state’s development plan for the Pyramids. Sawiris added that the asphalt road designated for buses must remain clear of any obstructions to ensure smooth movement of tourist groups.
He noted that allowing these workers to remain in the tourist route constitutes a violation that harms the public interest, stating, “The public interest is more important than 2,000 people who have been harming their country for years.”
Sawiris also insisted that allowing the continued presence of animals within the archaeological site damages Egypt’s image internationally. He called for a complete ban on camels and horses within the Pyramids area as a final solution to protect the monument and enhance Egypt’s tourism reputation worldwide
