Hunger in Gaza

Egypt Daily News – Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), warned on Monday of the risk of famine in Gaza, where two million people are suffering from hunger due to blocked aid.

Tedros called for the evacuation of patients and urged easier access for food and medicine.

The WHO Director-General stressed on Monday the looming threat of famine in Gaza, where two million people face severe hunger, pointing out that the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid is exacerbating the crisis.

Tons of food remain stuck at the border, just minutes away. During the opening of the annual meeting of member states in Geneva, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus explained that this deprivation increases the risk of famine, endangering the lives of Gaza’s population.

Netanyahu: Israel Must Avoid Famine in Gaza for “Diplomatic Reasons”
Warning of Famine in Gaza

In a statement on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel would allow a “minimal amount” of food into Gaza after more than two months of blocking aid. On Monday, Netanyahu stated that Israel must prevent famine in Gaza for “diplomatic reasons.”

He has no concern for ‘humanitarian reasons” after committing countless war crimes and genocide.

Worsening Health Crisis and Calls for Relief
Ghebreyesus confirmed that “escalating hostilities, evacuation orders, shrinking space for relief operations, and blocked aid are causing a surge in casualties amid an overwhelmed health system.” He added, “People are dying from preventable diseases while medicines wait at the border. Attacks on hospitals deprive people of care and deter them from seeking it.”

He highlighted the need to evacuate thousands of patients from Gaza for treatment and called on member states to accept more patients. He also urged Israel to allow their departure and facilitate the entry of food and medicine into Gaza.
