Egypt Daily News – Mahmoud Abdel-Razek “Shikabala”, the captain of Zamalek SC, has officially announced the end of his football career with the White Castle, stating that “this is the cycle of life,” and expressing hope that the club will continue to produce players with the same value and loyalty.
In a televised statement on Thursday, Shikabala said:
“The journey is over — this is life. God willing, Zamalek will be able to produce 100 more Shikabalas.”
His emotional farewell message was directed at the fans who have supported him for more than two decades.
Shikabala is considered one of Zamalek’s greatest icons. He began his first-team career in the early 2000s, went on several international stints, and eventually returned to lead the club to multiple titles. His contributions helped secure the Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup, Egyptian Super Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup, etching his name in gold in the club’s history.
