England national football team delivered a statement victory over Croatia national football team in a high-intensity FIFA World Cup opener that finished 4–2. The match was packed with drama, momentum swings, and decisive second-half quality that separated the two sides.

Harry Kane set the tone early with a twice-taken penalty that showcased both pressure and resilience. Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livaković initially saved the effort, but encroachment forced a retake and Kane made no mistake the second time.

England doubled their lead through another Kane strike, this time a powerful header from a Declan Rice corner. The early dominance suggested control, but Croatia quickly proved they were far from finished.

Croatia responded through Martin Baturina, who curled a superb effort past Jordan Pickford to bring the game back to life. That goal shifted momentum and exposed England’s defensive gaps under pressure.

Just before half-time, Petar Musa stunned England with a well-worked equaliser after intelligent build-up play from Ivan Perišić and Mario Pašalić. The 2–2 scoreline at the break reflected a chaotic and open first half.

England regained control early in the second half through Jude Bellingham, who drove forward and finished clinically across the goalkeeper. That goal marked a turning point as England began to dictate tempo and territory.

Croatia struggled to recover as England’s attacking intensity increased with substitutions and wide pressure. Bukayo Saka played a key role in stretching the defense and creating space in advanced areas.

Marcus Rashford sealed the victory late on with a composed finish after excellent attacking movement. The 4–2 result confirmed a strong opening statement from England in Group L of the World Cup.
