In a major push to engage Egyptians living abroad in national development, Egypt has launched a new initiative called “Your Farm in Egypt” as part of its ambitious 1.5 Million Feddan Project. The program offers Egyptian expats the opportunity to invest in agricultural land with full infrastructure and government support, aiming to boost food security, increase exports, and develop rural areas across the country.
The initiative was announced during the sixth annual “Egyptians Abroad” conference, held under the theme “From Everywhere… Egypt is the Destination.” Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Wahab, Chairman and Managing Director of the New Egyptian Countryside Development Company, unveiled the details of the initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs.

According to Abdel Wahab, “Your Farm in Egypt” offers a unique opportunity for the diaspora to participate in a strategic sector that plays a central role in Egypt’s sustainable development efforts. Participants will be able to acquire prepared agricultural plots within the national reclamation project, supported by comprehensive technical, legal, and administrative assistance.
The initiative is designed to ensure safe, structured, and sustainable investment. It includes pre-equipped plots with access to water, electricity, and roads, along with modern irrigation systems, crop planning based on scientific research, and access to supply chains and marketing networks. Investors will also receive support in farm management and integration into agricultural cooperatives.
Abdel Wahab stressed that the 1.5 Million Feddan Project is no longer just about reclaiming desert land. It has become a living example of turning barren landscapes into productive agricultural zones and creating new rural communities with housing, services, and employment opportunities. He described the initiative as a model for future agriculture in Egypt, one built on scientific planning, economic sustainability, and modern infrastructure.
During his presentation, he showed live footage and visuals from active project zones, highlighting thousands of feddans already prepared for cultivation. Much of the land now has full infrastructure in place, and the company is actively seeking committed investors both domestically and abroad.

The initiative also comes at a time when Egypt is working to reduce its dependency on food imports and strengthen its agricultural production capacity. Recent global supply chain disruptions and economic pressures have underscored the urgency of achieving food self-sufficiency. With this project, Egypt aims not only to meet domestic needs but also to position itself as a regional center for agricultural trade.
A senior government official confirmed that this is the first large-scale initiative specifically targeting Egyptians living abroad with tailored investment opportunities in land and agriculture. Unlike previous land sales, “Your Farm in Egypt” includes a complete package of support, including feasibility studies, planning, infrastructure, and guaranteed integration into profitable markets.
The official also emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader philosophy: Egyptians abroad are not temporary visitors to their homeland but vital contributors to its future. By participating in the initiative, they can help build a stronger agricultural economy while reconnecting with the land in a tangible and lasting way.
Details on how to apply, select plots, and engage in the program are expected to be made public in coordination with the Ministry of Emigration. The government has promised transparency, legal guarantees, and long-term support for participants.
“Your Farm in Egypt” is more than an investment project. It is a national call for participation, offering Egyptians living abroad the chance to build something meaningful on their home soil—an initiative that combines patriotism with smart, sustainable development.
