Egypt’s First Lady, Intissar El-Sisi, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the remarkable success of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening ceremony, describing the event as a reflection of Egypt’s timeless beauty, sophistication, and cultural grandeur.
In a statement shared on her official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, the First Lady wrote, “I extend my deepest thanks and appreciation to all those who took part in organizing the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum with such elegance and grace, worthy of Egypt’s distinguished status.”
She went on to express her pride in the creative Egyptian minds behind the event, adding, “I am proud of every Egyptian designer and artist who contributed to this monumental achievement. You have proven once again that Egyptian creativity knows no limits.”
El-Sisi also used the occasion to voice her support for the country’s young designers, emphasizing the importance of preserving Egypt’s cultural identity through art and fashion. “I take this opportunity to express my support for our young designers, who have the ability to uphold Egyptian identity and Pharaonic authenticity, starting with the localization of the fashion industry, which should proudly and confidently embody the enduring values of Egyptian civilization,” she wrote.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Pyramids, is now the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. Housing more than 100,000 artifacts, the museum offers a journey through Egypt’s ancient history, including the complete collection of the golden boy-king Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time since its discovery.
Spanning an impressive 500,000 square meters, an area equivalent to about 70 football fields and nearly twice the size of the Louvre in Paris, the Grand Egyptian Museum stands as one of the most ambitious cultural projects ever undertaken. Beyond being a treasure house of antiquities, it serves as a bridge between Egypt’s past and future, symbolizing the country’s renewed commitment to heritage, art, and innovation.
