Egypt Daily News – The former One Direction singer, 31-year-old Liam Payne, was found dead after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, according to local officials.
The Buenos Aires police stated in a statement that Bain fell from the third floor of the “Casa Sur” hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of the Argentine capital, causing “very serious injuries.” Paramedics confirmed his death at the scene, according to the statement.
Pablo Poliselco, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Security in the Buenos Aires municipality, said in a statement to the Associated Press that Bain “threw himself from the balcony of his room.”
He added that the police were called to the hotel in response to an emergency call about “an aggressive man believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” When the police arrived, they heard a thud and found Payne’s body in the hotel courtyard, according to Político.
Alberto Cresciente, head of the government emergency medical system, said on the Argentine television channel “Todo Noticias” that the authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death and conducting an autopsy.
He refrained from answering further questions about the incident, including whether Bain jumped from the balcony or fell accidentally.
