Egypt Daily News – Syrian army withdrew from their positions in Quneitra Governorate on the border with Israel, according to what the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Saturday.

The Syrian Observatory said that the Syrian army forces withdrew to join areas that had become outside the control of the authorities within days following an unprecedented attack by the terrorist organizations (the opposition).

The Syrian government forces evacuated military and security sites and points, while workers in government institutions left, making the governorate located on the border with Israel free of the Syrian army for the first time, according to what the director of the Syrian Observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, told Agence France-Presse.

The German News Agency reported that Syrian government forces withdrew from the areas of the western Damascus countryside.

Local residents in the western Damascus countryside said that Syrian army members came from the areas of the southwestern Damascus countryside, Quneitra Governorate, and Daraa, according to what the German News Agency reported.

Residents in the cities and towns of the southwestern Damascus countryside explained that soldiers marched towards the capital, Damascus, on foot, and some of them came from areas more than 50 kilometers away from the capital, and this happened after they received an order to withdraw.

Residents reported that Syrian army artillery could be heard conducting artillery shelling on the areas of the Daraa countryside, which were reached by the terrorists groups advancing towards the capital, Damascus.
