Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who is on an official visit to Egypt. The two presidents held bilateral talks, followed by an expanded session that was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Eng. Hassan Al-Khatib, from the Egyptian side.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi welcomed Egypt’s esteemed guest and stressed the depth of historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, while expressing that Egypt looked forward to strengthening its partnership with Indonesia in various fields of common interest, and intensifying political cooperation and coordination regarding regional and international issues and crises.

The meeting touched on ways to enhance cultural and scientific cooperation.
The Indonesian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people for the educational opportunities offered to Indonesian students over the past years at Egyptian universities, especially Al-Azhar University, and the positive impact this has had on Indonesian society as well as its contribution to disseminating moderate Islamic thought.

The President stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of trade and investment, manufacturing, information and communications technology, in addition to food security and renewable energy, expressing the state’s readiness to provide all conditions to ensure the success of the operation of Indonesian companies and investors in Egypt.

For his part, the Indonesian President expressed his appreciation for the efforts made in Egypt to establish a strong infrastructure that attracts foreign investments, pointing out the importance of increasing Indonesian investments in Egypt, as well as the possibility of considering establishing partnerships to localize some industries.

The two leaders discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip, Syria and Lebanon, and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, release hostages, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid without restrictions.

They also stressed the need to respect the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state in accordance with international legitimate resolutions. The two leaders expressed the importance of restoring stability to both Syria and Lebanon, and the need to respect their sovereignty and the unity and territorial integrity.

Concluding the meeting, the Indonesian president expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt, its leadership and people, stressing the great status and pride that the Indonesian people hold for the Egyptian people and for the historical relations between the two countries, praising Egypt’s historical role in supporting the issues of the Islamic nation and defending its interests.
