Egypt Daily News – The leader of the Houthi militia, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, hinted on Tuesday that “the Iran-backed group will resume its operations against Israel if the Israeli state undertakes any new escalation in the Gaza Strip.”

In a speech broadcast by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel, al-Houthi stated: “We are prepared to even militarily intervene in any round of escalation against Gaza at any time.”

Al-Houthi’s remarks came after the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which came into effect on January 19, was put at risk following U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning to the Palestinian movement of “hell” if it did not release “all hostages” still held in the Gaza Strip by Saturday.

Hamas responded to the U.S. President, Israel’s closest ally, by stating that “the language of threats holds no value and only complicates matters further.”

Trump had also proposed, during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, an unprecedented plan for Gaza that involves relocating all residents of the Strip so that the United States can take control of it for real estate development.

Under Trump’s plan, Egypt and Jordan, in particular, would be required to accommodate these Gazans, but both countries rejected the proposal.

Al-Houthi stated in response, “The plans of Trump, his team, and the criminal Netanyahu, are plans that cannot succeed. Circumventing the agreement and returning to aggression and escalation will not achieve any security or reassurance for them.”
