Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman hosts a friendly meeting

Egypt Daily News – A friendly meeting was held today in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, bringing together the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, President Sisi and the King of Jordan. This came after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended an invitation yesterday for the informal gathering.

This meeting is part of the regular informal gatherings that have been traditionally held for many years between the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Arab Republic of Egypt. It reflects the close fraternal ties among the leaders and contributes to strengthening cooperation and coordination between the GCC, Jordan, and Egypt.

The meeting comes at a critical and sensitive time in the region, amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and seize control of it.

It was emphasized that any decisions regarding joint Arab action will be issued “within the agenda of the upcoming emergency Arab summit,” which Egypt will host in March.

Since January 25, former U.S. President Donald Trump has been promoting a plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan. Both nations have rejected the proposal, joined by other Arab states and regional and international organizations.

With U.S. support, Israel committed acts of genocide in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, resulting in over 160,000 Palestinian casualties, most of whom were children and women, along with more than 14,000 missing persons.

At the end of the day, the Egyptian presidency stated on its spokesperson’s Facebook account that “President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is leaving the Saudi capital, Riyadh, returning to his homeland after participating in an informal meeting on the Palestinian issue, with the participation of the leaders of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.”
