Egypt Daily News – Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara affirmed his keenness to start a new chapter of fraternal relations with Arab countries, especially Egypt. He expressed his desire to work jointly with Egypt in a way that serves the interests of both nations and the Arab world. He also appreciated Egypt’s efforts in supporting the unity and territorial integrity of Arab states and restoring regional stability.

This came after a meeting between Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency stated that President El-Sisi, at the beginning of the meeting, reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people, fulfilling their aspirations, and respecting their will and choices to achieve stability and development. He also emphasized the importance of launching a comprehensive political process that includes all components of the Syrian people without excluding any party.

Additionally, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, explained that President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness on Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, affirming Egypt’s rejection of any infringement on Syrian territory.

Al-Shara’s Speech at the Summit

Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara participated in the Arab Summit held in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

In his speech at the summit, he stated that calls for the displacement of Palestinians are part of a broader Arab displacement project led by external forces. He emphasized that the forced displacement of Gaza’s residents poses a threat to all Arabs and is a mark of disgrace.

Al-Shara affirmed Syria’s strong rejection of any plans to displace Palestinians, stating that his country is ready to contribute to efforts to aid Gaza’s residents and exert pressure on the international community. He also highlighted that settlement policies aim to erase the identity of the Palestinian people.

He continued by stating that Syria has always been and remains a part of the greater Arab family, standing in support of Arab national security. He called on Arab nations to unify their positions and take responsibility for the Palestinian people.

Al-Shara also emphasized that since Israel occupied the Golan Heights in 1967, it has not ceased violating the rights of the Syrian people. He reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and stressed that Israel’s continued disregard for this agreement is unacceptable.

He warned that leniency in confronting the Israeli occupation could pave the way for further threats.
