Trump Congress Speech

Egypt Daily News – US President Donald Trump stated that the United States has accomplished more in 43 days than it did in the past eight years, emphasizing that the American dream is “unstoppable” and that the country is regaining its confidence after a month and a half of his second term.

As Trump began delivering his speech, several Democratic lawmakers interrupted him with boos, leading to the expulsion of veteran Texas Representative Al Green, who stood up, raised his cane, and shouted at the president.

In his first address to Congress since taking office, Trump claimed that the first month of his presidency made him “the most successful” president in U.S. history, followed by George Washington, while describing Joe Biden’s presidency as “the worst.”

Regarding key decisions, Trump touched on immigration, stating, “We are carrying out the largest deportation operation of illegal immigrants in the country’s history,” calling on everyone to celebrate together “the victories the United States has achieved” in making the country “great again.”

He also addressed Washington’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, the World Health Organization, and the “anti-American” Human Rights Council, according to Trump, as well as the restrictions his administration imposed on the use of electric vehicles to unleash the full potential of the U.S. economy.

Amid loud applause, the U.S. president listed everything he had ordered to be frozen, including hiring, federal regulations, and “all foreign aid.”

He stated that he had halted all government oversight and restored freedom of speech in the country, expressing his gratitude to the Ministry of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, for uncovering corruption worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

He also announced that he had authorized a team to explore “liquid gold” in the United States and that he would take historic action to expand the country’s production of rare minerals, emphasizing that America had inherited an “economic disaster and high inflation rates” from the Biden administration.

Trump: Tariffs Will Make the United States Great

In the longest speech ever delivered by a U.S. president before Congress, Trump stated, “We will achieve growth in the automotive industry like never before,” emphasizing that he had spoken with the three largest car manufacturers on Tuesday.

He added, “I want to make interest payments on car loans tax-deductible, but only if the cars are manufactured in the United States.”

Trump also asserted that the U.S. is paying billions of dollars in subsidies to Canada and Mexico and that this will not continue.

In the past 24 hours, the U.S. president imposed new 25% tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico while doubling tariffs on Chinese products to 20%. These measures appear to be triggering a trade war, as the affected countries plan to implement retaliatory tariffs against the United States.

In his speech, Trump showed no sign of backing down from his decisions, criticizing the European Union, India, Mexico, Brazil, and “many other countries” for what he described as “unfair” trade policies toward the U.S., insisting that America will respond in kind.

The president acknowledged that the tariffs he had begun imposing on several nations might cause “some disruptions” in the U.S. economy but stated, “We are fine with that.”

“Tariffs will make America rich and great again. This will happen, and it will happen very quickly,” Trump declared.

He set April 2 as the date for implementing “reciprocal tariffs,” stating, “Whatever taxes they impose on us, we will impose on them,” highlighting that the U.S. historically maintained lower tariff rates than its trade partners.

Reaffirming his economic strategy, Trump asserted that “the United States will generate trillions of dollars from these tariffs and create unprecedented job opportunities.” He added, “We have been exploited by every country on earth for decades, and we will not allow this to continue.”

“A Senseless War”

U.S. President Donald Trump said he had received “an important message” from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in recent days, in which Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine was ready to participate in negotiations to reach an agreement to end the war and achieve peace.

According to Trump, the message also confirmed that Zelenskyy was prepared to sign the minerals agreement “at any time.”

Trump added that the U.S. had made contacts with Russia, which suggested there was a willingness on its part to pursue a peaceful resolution, calling it “a beautiful thing.”

“The time has come to end this senseless war,” Trump declared, urging both sides to take concrete steps toward achieving that goal.

A White House official announced on Monday evening that President Trump had ordered a “temporary” freeze on U.S. military aid to Ukraine following the widely publicized confrontation between him and Zelenskyy in the Oval Office on Friday.

Hours earlier, Trump warned that the U.S. “will not tolerate for long” Zelenskyy’s stance on negotiating a ceasefire with Russia, after Zelenskyy received support from European allies and refused to accept a ceasefire without “serious” security guarantees.

And Trump stated, “This man does not want peace as long as he has America’s support.” Later, Zelenskyy announced that he wanted to end the war “as soon as possible.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in a press conference, “Someone must force Zelenskyy to change his mind. He does not want peace. Someone must compel him to seek peace.”
