Ahly and Zamalek

Egypt Daily News – A source in the Football Association revealed that the 130th Cairo Derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek will be officiated by an Egyptian refereeing team, as neither club requested a foreign referee crew.

A source from the Football Association stated that the role of the FA in appointing a foreign refereeing team for the Cairo Derby is limited to selecting the officials and completing the necessary procedures, without bearing any financial costs—something that has already been arranged.

Al Ahly and Zamalek Did Not Request Foreign Referees

The source explained that from the outset, the FA and the Referees Committee had prepared to provide a foreign refereeing team in case either Al Ahly or Zamalek requested one. However, neither club has made such a request so far.

Match Timing Was Unexpected

The source emphasized that the 130th Cairo Derby will be officiated by one of the available Egyptian referees at the moment, as the match timing was unexpectedly set following the league draw conducted by the Clubs Association. This left little time for decision-making, and the refereeing team will be officially announced within hours.

Match Date and Time

The Al Ahly vs. Zamalek match is scheduled for 9:30 PM on Tuesday, as part of Matchweek 18 of the Egyptian Premier League.
