Israeli military base in Gaza

Egypt Daily News – The US State Department announced on Tuesday that it is aware of reports that Israel is building military bases in the Gaza Strip, noting that it is the responsibility of the Israeli government to clarify the validity of this information.

The State Department added, “If these reports are true, they contradict the principles established by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Tokyo about a year ago,” which include “not reducing the territory of Gaza, or forcing Palestinians to displace, and ensuring their right to return safely.”

An analysis of satellite images conducted by The New York Times and The Times revealed that the Israeli army had established a network of military bases in the central Gaza Strip, and the area of Israeli control in this region expanded to about 18 square miles, where 19 large bases and dozens of small bases were built. .

Satellite images showed that these bases are fortified, including walls, protective trenches, parking lots for armored vehicles, and communications towers, as 12 bases have been built or expanded since last September alone.
