Egypt Daily News – Diaa Rashwan commented on the Iranian attack on Israel that the region is entering a completely new phase in the regional conflict.

He noted that these developments come after the assassination of the head of Hamas’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran more than two months ago, which Iran did not respond to at the time but confirmed that it would retaliate.

Rashwan added, that the current escalation in Lebanon indicates an actual war there, where explosions of pager devices occurred and most of Hezbollah’s leaders, including the Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, were assassinated, explaining that Iran has been confirming all along that it will respond.

America’s diplomatic efforts with Iran have failed.
Rashwan pointed out that the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, affirmed that his country does not seek war or want to expand the circle of conflicts in the region.

There were reports of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, conducted through intermediaries with the aim of calming the situation. This obviously did not work.
