A series of bilateral cooperation agreements between Egypt and Bahrain were signed today at the New Administrative Capital, marking the conclusion of expanded joint discussions held at the Cabinet headquarters. The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of eight cooperation documents aimed at enhancing bilateral relations across various sectors. Key agreements included:
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Egyptalum and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba):
The agreement focuses on investment cooperation to assess the feasibility of building an alumina refinery in Egypt. It was signed by Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawy, Chairman and Managing Director of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company. - MoU between Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Bahrain’s Economic Development Board (EDB):
This agreement seeks to boost bilateral investment relations. It was signed by Bahraini Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, and GAFI CEO, Hossam Heiba. - MoU for Strategic Cooperation between the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences in Egypt and Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre:
Signed by Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Hassan El-Khatib. - Mutual Recognition Agreement for the Authorized Economic Operator Program:
Between the Egyptian Customs Authority and Bahrain Customs Affairs. Signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and Egyptian Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk. - MoU on Tourism Cooperation:
Between the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Bahraini Ministry of Tourism. Signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and Ahmed Kouchouk. - MoU on Cooperation in Antiquities and Museums:
Between Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. Signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and Ahmed Kouchouk. - MoU on Competition Protection:
Between the Egyptian Competition Authority and Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Signed by Bahraini Minister Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro and Ahmed Kouchouk. - MoU on Sustainable Development Cooperation and Capacity Building:
Between Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and Bahrain’s Ministry of Sustainable Development. Signed by Minister Rania Al-Mashat from the Egyptian side and Minister Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif from the Bahraini side.
These agreements reflect the growing partnership between Egypt and Bahrain, underpinned by shared interests in economic development, cultural exchange, sustainable growth, and regional cooperation.
