Egypt and Qatar joint statement: A package of direct Qatari investments worth 7.5 billion dollars

Egypt Daily News – A joint statement was issued by Egypt and Qatar, affirming that within the framework of strong fraternal relations, deep historical ties, and the keenness of both brotherly countries to enhance consultation and coordination on various levels, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, made an official visit to Doha on April 13 and 14, 2025.

The discussions, which took place in an atmosphere of fraternity and understanding between Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reflected the depth of the bilateral relations characterized by strength and mutual trust. They addressed ways to develop cooperation in many fields in a way that enhances mutual interests and opens new horizons for integration and partnership.

The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. They agreed to continue working together to boost investment and economic exchange, reflecting the political will of both countries and contributing to sustainable economic development that serves the aspirations of their brotherly peoples.

In this context, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the economic partnership between the two countries. They agreed to work toward a package of direct Qatari investments with a total value of 7.5 billion US dollars, to be implemented in the coming phase. This reflects the strength of the relationship and contributes to achieving sustainable economic development that benefits both peoples.

The two sides also emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause as the primary issue for Arabs. They reaffirmed their firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with peace initiatives and relevant international resolutions.

They confirmed their support for efforts to achieve Palestinian national reconciliation and the need to unify the Palestinian ranks in a way that ensures the activation of Palestinian state institutions and fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

Both parties renewed their full support for the Gaza reconstruction plan and expressed their anticipation for the convening of an international conference on this matter to be hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt in Cairo, in cooperation with regional and international partners. The conference aims to coordinate humanitarian and development efforts to improve living conditions for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The two sides expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to achieve an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, and support reconstruction efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

They also expressed serious concern about the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan and stressed the importance of an immediate cessation of military operations and a return to an inclusive national dialogue that preserves Sudan’s unity and sovereignty and ends the suffering of its people. Both parties confirmed their full support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the conflict.

The two sides welcomed the ongoing indirect negotiations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and confirmed their support for any peaceful efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region and promoting security and stability. They also praised the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman in this regard.

The two sides emphasized the importance of empowering regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful solutions, especially the mediation efforts led by the two countries in partnership with the United States of America, to achieve a ceasefire and end the war in Gaza. They condemned all attempts to undermine the negotiation process or target mediators, which only seek to sabotage mediation efforts.

The State of Qatar also expressed its support for the candidacy of Dr. Khaled El-Anany, the nominee of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in recognition of his academic and cultural career and in confidence in his ability to contribute positively to the organization’s work.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral relations during the recent period and affirmed the importance of building on what has been accomplished and advancing the relationship to broader horizons, within the framework of mutual respect and a shared vision for a future marked by security, stability, and prosperity.
